Peppol for associations and non-profit organisations (ASBLs)
Do you take care of the administration of your sports club, hobby club, neighbourhood committee, … ? Then pay attention: you are also required to comply with the new legislation on electronic invoicing via Peppol.
Is e-invoicing mandatory for an association or non-profit organisation?
From 1 January 2026, all VAT-liable organisations must send and receive electronic invoices for B2B transactions. This will take place via the Peppol network.
This obligation also applies to non-profit organisations, provided they are subject to VAT. Is your non-profit organisation subject to VAT, in other words: do you have a VAT number? Then you must be able to receive and send electronic invoices via Peppol.
Exception to the rule
Not every non-profit organisation falls under this obligation.
Article 44 of the Belgian VAT Code defines which activities are exempt from VAT. This includes organisations active in healthcare, education, the socio-cultural sector, etc.
If your non-profit organisation exclusively carries out activities exempt under Article 44, it is not VAT-liable and the obligation to use e-invoicing via Peppol does not apply.
How do you switch to Peppol with a non-profit organisation?
Connecting to Peppol is easier than you might think. To receive and/or send electronic invoices, your non-profit organisation must be registered on the Peppol network via a certified Peppol Access Point Provider. This provider takes care of all technical aspects for you.
We have already sent many sponsorship invoices via DocclePro. It works perfectly. And payments are received faster than before.

Tips
Do multiple board members need access to the invoicing of your association or non-profit organisation? Then create a separate Doccle account for your organisation. This way, your private administration remains perfectly separated from that of your association.
As security is our top priority, an organisation can only be registered using the itsme identification of the person(s) listed in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE). For a non-profit organisation, this is sometimes not possible, or your itsme may already be linked to your private Doccle account. In that case, it is best to request a manual registration to put your organisation in order. Fill in the form available via the link below and we will take care of it for your association.
