What is self-billing?
Self-billing means that the customer issues the invoice on behalf of the supplier.
Instead of you preparing and sending the invoice, your customer does it for you — based on what has actually been delivered. You then receive the invoice for review and approval.
In the agriculture and horticulture sectors, self-billing invoices -also known as purchase statements- are a common billing method.

How does self-billing work?
The customer and supplier agree in advance to use self-billing.
- The customer issues the invoice on behalf of the supplier.

These invoices are also subject to the Peppol requirement starting in 2026, applicable to all B2B transactions between VAT-registered companies.
